Downloading MS Office

The Steps of Download and Setup Microsoft Office is really easy. Microsoft provides easy steps to install and configure their software. You need to visit https://office.com/setup. Then Follow the steps below:

  •  Login with your Microsoft account with which you want to use MS Office on office.com/setup. If you don’t have an account with MicroSoft you can create one and that’s a simple step to do.
  •  After Successfully Logging into your account on office.com/setup proceed with entering your product key. You will find your product key behind the packet of the MicroSoft Office package or on the purchase receipt.
  • After entering the valid Product Key you will be redirected to download your version of MicroSoft Office from office.com/setup.

What is MS Office?

Microsoft Office, or simply Office, is a family of client software, server software, and services developed by Microsoft. It was first announced by Bill Gates on August 1, 1988, at COMDEX in Las Vegas. Initially a marketing term for an office suite (bundled set of productivity applications), the first version of Office contained Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint. Over the years, Office applications have grown substantially closer with shared features such as a common spell checker, OLE data integration and Visual Basic for Applications scripting language. Microsoft also positions Office as a development platform for line-of-business software under the Office Business Applications brand. On July 10, 2012, Softpedia reported that Office was being used by over a billion people worldwide.

Office is produced in several versions targeted towards different end-users and computing environments. The original, and most widely used version, is the desktop version, available for PCs running the Windows and macOS operating systems. Office in a browser, previously known as Office Online, is a version of the software that runs within a web browser, while Microsoft also maintains Office apps for Android and iOS.

Since Office 2013, Microsoft has promoted Office 365 as the primary means of obtaining Microsoft Office: it allows the use of the software and other services on a subscription business model, and users receive free feature updates to the software for the lifetime of the subscription, including new features and cloud computing integration that are not necessarily included in the “on-premises” releases of Office sold under conventional license terms. In 2017, revenue from Office 365 overtook conventional license sales.

When you have an active Office 365 subscription, you always have the most up-to-date version of the Office applications.
 
Office 2019 is a one-time purchase with the classic versions of the Office applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for use on a single PC or Mac. The applications are not automatically updated; to get the latest version, you must purchase Office again when the new version becomes available. Current Office application versions available for one-time purchase are Office 2019 for Windows and Office 2019 for Mac. Previous versions include Office 2016, Office 2013, Office 2011 for Mac, Office 2010, Office 2007, Office 2008 for Mac, and Office 2004 for Mac. Your product key is 25 characters and is found in different locations depending on how you acquired your Office product.

  • If you purchased Office on a traditional disc the product key should be located inside the package on a label on the card opposite the disc holder on the left side of the DVD case.
  • If you purchased an Office product key card the product key should be located inside the package on a label on the left side of the case.
  • If the product key is not inside the package, please review the instructions in the package.
  • If you purchased and downloaded Office online the product key should be on the confirmation page and/or email that was sent to you when you downloaded the software.
  • If you purchased a new computer with Office preloaded the manufacturer of your computer should have included either media or a Microsoft Product Identifier card in the box that has the product key. The product key is located on the Certificate of Authenticity.
Internet access is required to install and activate all the latest releases of Office suites and all Office 365 subscription plans. For Office 365 plans, Internet access is also needed to manage your subscription account, for example to install Office on other PCs or to change billing options. Internet access is also required to access documents stored on OneDrive, unless you install the OneDrive desktop app. You should also connect to the Internet regularly to keep your version of Office up to date and benefit from automatic upgrades. If you do not connect to the Internet at least every 31 days, your applications will go into reduced functionality mode, which means that you can view or print your documents, but cannot edit the documents or create new ones. To reactivate your Office applications, simply reconnect to the Internet.
You do not need to be connected to the Internet to use the Office applications, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, because the applications are fully installed on your computer.

Users can activate 1 subscription for Office 365 Home and Office 365 Personal and up to 25 licenses for Office Home & Student 2016, Office Home & Business 2016, and Office Professional 2016.

If you are using a Microsoft Office from 2013 or any version where the support has already expired or the version of the software that does not support the current pricing of the software. Which means if the support for that version is expired or ended there will be no free upgrade. 

Backup media for Office 2010 products is no longer available. You can create your own backup media by downloading to an external storage (USB) device or to a DVD.

If you stored your product key on a previous version of the Office download site and are unable to find it based on how you acquired Office, check your email. If you are an Office 2010 or Office 2007 download customer, you were sent an email message containing the product key when you first set up your account. The email would have come from the domain trymicrosoftoffice.com.

The easiest way to do this is to first change your taskbar settings so your Excel files will show as separate entries on the taskbar. To do this right click on a blank spot of your taskbar and choose Properties. For Windows Vista uncheck the box that says Group similar taskbar buttons. For Windows 7 and up where it says Taskbar buttons, make it say Never combine from the dropdown list.

Now open Excel by itself from the Excel shortcut rather than double clicking an Excel file. Drag the empty Excel window to your secondary monitor and then open Excel again and keep in on your primary monitor. Now open your files from the Open option within Excel.

I would browse the CD itself and see if you can find the SKU011.cab file itself. If there are a lot of folders and sub folders then you may be better off doing a search for the file.

If you find it then see if you can drag/copy it to your desktop. This will show if your computer can read the file or not. If you get an error copying it then it may be a case of a scratch on the CD that corrupted that file. If you can copy it then when the computer asks for that file during installation you can browse to the one you copied on your desktop to get past that part of the installation. Then you will have to point it back to your CD to finish installing Word.

Another option is to see if you can make a copy of the CD successfully or copy it to your hard drive and then try to install Word from the copy.

You can use the free Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer software to open PowerPoint files and slide shows such as pps, ppt and pptx files. It will open files created in PowerPoint 97, and higher It can be downloaded free from Microsoft and will run on Windows XP and up.

There is a bug in Microsoft Office that will give you a message saying CiceroUIWndFrame not responding when you try and log off or shut down your computer. To fix this error you need to remove the Speech and Handwriting Recognition feature from Microsoft Office. Most people will never use this feature to begin with. To do so, do the following:

Open Control Panel
Double Click on Add/Remove Programs or Programs and Features depending on your version of Windows
Find Microsoft Office and click on the Change button
You may have to check the box that says Choose advanced customization of applications if you did a custom installation of Office
Browse to Office Shared Features, Alternative User Input, and then select for Speech and Handwriting recognition (both) and make them Not Available from the drop-down box and click on Update.

You can edit files within OneDrive for Business using the web app versions of Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote. To open a file within OneDrive for Business, click on the file name and choose “Edit Document” and then “Edit in Web App” from the top menu bar. When you share a document with another user, you can choose whether to give that user editing rights. OneDrive for Business will remember the ten most recent versions of edited documents.

Office 365 works best with the latest version of Office, Office 2010, and Office 2011 for Mac. Office 365 works with Office 2007 with slightly limited functionality. If you have an earlier edition of Office, you will need to update to a newer version of Office in order to use Office 365; or you can subscribe to one of the many Office 365 plans that include the latest version of Office. In addition to getting the latest version of Office as part of your subscription, you will also get automatic updates, so your Office will always be up to date. 

You need to purchase only one Office 365 seat license. You will be able to install Office desktop applications on up to 5 computers and access your account with all the available web applications online from any web-enabled device.

Yes. If you purchase an Office 365 subscription with the same number of user accounts you created by the end of your free trial, the information and configuration for these users’ accounts will remain intact. Once your free trial expires, you won’t be able to continue trialing Office 365. You will have an additional 30 days to purchase Office 365 before your account information is erased. Once your trial account information has been erased, it cannot be retrieved.

For PC users:

Minimum systems requirements for Office 365 are the following on your PC: XP operating system with SP3; Office 2007; and Internet Explorer 7. You can find full requirements here.

Minimum system requirements for Office 365 are the following on your Mac: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard); Office 2008 for Mac & Entourage 2008 Web Services Edition; Safari 4 or above.
